UN Women
UN Women, or the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, is a UN agency established in 2010 to strengthen global efforts toward women’s rights and gender equality. Its primary mission is to support Member States in implementing international standards on gender equality while helping societies overcome political, economic, and social barriers that hinder the empowerment of women and girls.
Since its creation, UN Women has played a vital role in advancing equal pay, ensuring access to education, combating gender-based violence, and promoting women’s participation in political and decision-making processes. Through its partnerships with governments, international organizations, and civil society, it contributes to building a fairer, more inclusive, and more sustainable world.
This year, under the overarching theme of “Global Institutions,” delegates will explore how international structures can be reformed or strengthened to better address gender equality challenges. Discussions will focus on integrating gender perspectives into global policies, enhancing international cooperation to protect women’s rights, and highlighting the importance of inclusive governance in shaping a just and equitable future for all.
