ECOSOC

The United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) is one of the six principal organs of the United Nations, responsible for promoting international economic and social cooperation and development. Established in 1945, ECOSOC serves as a central platform where countries, international organizations, and civil society come together to discuss global issues, coordinate policies, and drive action on topics ranging from sustainable development and economic growth to public health, education, and social inclusion.

Throughout its history, ECOSOC has played a crucial role in shaping global development agendas, including the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the current Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It facilitates dialogue between governments, experts, and institutions, ensuring that global policies are both inclusive and effective in addressing the world’s most pressing challenges.
